Nikola Girke, a two-time Canadian Olympian, is among the few athletes who have made the transition from one sport to another and to have competed in two different events at the Olympic Games. At the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, Nikola crewed on the two person 470 sailboat, finishing 13th. In 2005, Nikola switched to RSX windsurfing, launching another — yet completely different — Olympic campaign for Beijing 2008. A respectable 17th place finish at the 2008 Olympic Games inspired Nikola to continue in pursuit of bringing home an Olympic Medal for Canada at the London 2012 Olympic Games in women's windsurfing.
